This piece for telephone answering robot & cello I wrote because I got so frustrated to talk to computers when asking for service with telephone. While writing it I realized that this actually only is the beginning of robotics coming into ordinary daily life. Robots are here to stay. In part one the cello is actually trying to speak to somebody at the telephone, but the only thing he gets to hear is a computer telling him to hold the line. In part two it’s still waiting as time is ticking away. In part three the cello gives up on the system and is silently soloing away from it all.
