Music for Meditation

Music for Meditation  was composed during the surge of the “New Age” musical movement in the nineties of the last century. During this time, singing sisters, nuns, and even the pope had their singing skills edited in elaborate studios, resulting in a semi-religious, noble kitsch with lush harmonies and electric beats.

In response, I took my own approach and composed “Music for Meditation.” This “minimal” electronic music aims to guide the listener on a brief 45-minute journey through time.

The piece consists of three parts:

The Beginning (15:42)

* Sleep (10:11)

* Wake Up (19:47)

The recurring theme throughout the piece features a ground note with a fifth jump topped with a whole note, 1-5-6. The electronic instruments include Gamelan, Bells, Alto Flute, Horn, and Guitar (Roland D50 and U220).
